The theremin, first electronic instrument and the only one being played without any physical contact celebrates it’s centennial in 2019. But for 6000 years humans have pounded, drummed and brushed, making this the second most anscient instrument after the voice. The theremin is like a voice–with a larger range and endless breath. Thus the old and the new meet in the timeless space of free improvisation.

Das Theremin, erstes elektronisches Instrument und das einzige, das berührungslos gespielt wird feiert 2019 seinen 100. Geburtstag. Aber schon seit 6000 Jahren wird getrommelt, geklopft und gestrichen. Nach der Stimme ist Percussion das älteste Musikinstrument. Theremin ist wie eine Stimme – mit einer größeren Bandbreite und endlosem Atem. So begegnet sich das Alte und das Neue im zeitlosen Raum der freien Improvisation.
